SARI/E has been honored by Asian Development Bank with a "Special Wind Visionary" recognition. This is conferred to SARI/E in recognition of its contribution to wind power development through wind geospatial mapping and assessment studies in the 8 South Asian countries of Afghanistan, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Maldives, and Bhutan. Studies in Nepal and Bangladesh are currently going on and will be rolled out in August, 2010.

The National Renewable Energy Labratory (NREL) of the U.S. Department of Energy implements the wind energy program for USAID/SARI/E.

Winston Bowman from RDMA Bangkok received this honor on behalf of SARI/E at the Asia Clean Energy Forum in Manila on June 21, 2010 from Director Anthony Jude of ADB.
